Before Cedar wallBefore Living
The conversation for this interior began with a consultation about the flooring stain. We recommended removing the dark stain and then tested out a variety of options, settling on a custom ‘wash’ that lightens and enhances the grain.

The living area is large and open planned and we had many delightful conversations about how we actually live, versus what looks good in a photograph!

High on the wish list was a fireplace, eco-friendly of course. With the assistance of professional cabinetry-makers we designed a wall-to-wall bench seat with storage drawers, that allowed for the firebox to sit elegantly atop. The stacked firewood under the bench adds a natural element to the interior and is generous in proportion.

With spatial planning resolved, purchasing furniture becomes much easier. Each decision affects the next and we were able recommend items and balance the aesthetics right throughout the home.
The cedar batten wall was an important design feature that allowed for light to filter, connection to remain and yet delineate the spaces. We love that our client added books and personal items to the screening, layering intimate moments in an open space.

The aesthetic of a natural palette combined with rich yellow, olive green, a mix of mid-century and organic pieces creates balance and room for large scale artwork to be introduced.

We especially love the layout in the living areas, designed for how these owners live and with gathering in mind.
