The beautiful wood flooring with a custom stain is exposed and the cooler months are taken care of with central heating.
A gorgeous patterned round rug in the Master sits askew of the modern Bauhaus fabric bed. We continued the modern-organic pairings with hefty wooden carved tables at the bedside.
Installing the slat wall softens the room, not just with the wood tones but the acoustic backing softens noise. Taking it to the ceiling accentuates the dimensions of the room.
The owners already had the oversized mirror and we encouraged them to get a thick deep-set frame so it could lean casually on the wall.
Practically, we are usually designing with existing furniture and find ways to balance all the elements. The existing bed was moved to the spare room and the challenge was to find a way to work with the tones and modernise the space.
Spatial planning was important here too and we recommended getting a larger bedside unit on one side of the bed to the other. This gave more drawer space for guests, and the modern colours and finishes enhanced the existing furniture.
A slimline desk and chair give a visitor practicality and the owner’s artwork and personal pieces complete the room.
Two beautiful rooms, carefully curated.
